From May through to September we host free beginner crown green bowling sessions on Saturday mornings at 10am. The sessions are open to all members of our community and are hosted by long time member and team captain Les Cropper, who will be happy to welcome you and go through the basics and offer advice as you progress.<\/p>\n

We have welcomed over 60 people to our sessions over the last two years, with ages ranging from 6 to 80. Many that have attended our sessions have gone on to join teams at Whitefield Bowling Club.<\/p>\n

We are proud to offer these sessions to all in our community, bringing together people of all ages.\u00a0All equipment is provided, along with expert tuition, if you are interested in attending just turn up at 10am on Saturday at the club or contact us for further details.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWe started coming to the sessions in May 2022 and have now joined the mixed team and bowl on Thursday evenings. We still attend the sessions with Les and get new tips and advice each week. \u201cWe would just like to say a huge thank you to the club and to Les in particular for the \u201cFree to all\u201d beginners training on a Saturday morning.\u00a0\u00a0As newcomers to the game we found the open and friendly club members welcoming and their advice invaluable, with Les always on hand with keen observations and tips from a lifetime of experience.<\/p>\n

It was something of a surprise to find the game to be great exercise and the club itself to be a calm oasis from the stresses of daily life.\u00a0 The beautifully well kept green and grounds offer a real boost to both physical and mental wellbeing.<\/p>\n

My name is Catherine Worthy. I live nearby the club and I am in my early seventies. I am a retired nurse.<\/p>\n

I have always been active but these days it is harder to play team sports; I used to play Badminton and a little tennis.<\/p>\n

As recently local to Whitefield I joined the bowling club last year. Everyone was really welcoming and Les Cropper gave his time and advice to the Saturday morning beginner\u2019s group.\u00a0I really enjoy it, as I am getting gentle exercise, plus healthy competition and meeting lively and fun people.\u00a0 I look forward to playing and sometimes I will walk round to watch a game or just sit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.<\/p>\n
